Office Ukraine. Two Years of Support for Ukrainian Artists

Founded immediately after the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Office Ukraine connects displaced artists and cultural workers with the Austrian cultural scene, helping them continue their artistic and professional practice. The initiative stands as a strong expression of solidarity by Austria's cultural sector and the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport (formerly BMKOES).

The publication offers a comprehensive overview of Office Ukraine's activities from 2022 to 2024. Alongside contributions by the Office Ukraine team, numerous Ukrainian artists and supporters share their personal experiences. The volume also includes a personal essay by the Ukrainian author Tanya Malyarchuk and a contribution by linguist Ruth Wodak on current developments in international migration policy.

Beyond documenting two years of practical experience, the book serves as a resource for those interested in developing similar support structures for artists and cultural communities at risk. At the same time, it is a clear statement against becoming accustomed to the ongoing war in Europe.
