MILITANTROPOS Filmscreening and talk

MILITANTROPOS
Filmscreening and talk
Date: May 27, 2026, at 7.30 pm
Location: Votiv Kino (Währinger Strasse 12, 1090 Vienna)
The documentary MILITANTROPOS (UA, AT, FR 2025, 111 min) by Alina Gorlova, Simon Mozgovyi, and Yelizaveta Smith is a kaleidoscope of everyday life in war and captures the human condition through the fractured realities of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. MILITANTROPOS is an international co-production (UA, AT, FR) with majority Austrian participation (Mischief Films), which received significant support from the Austrian Film Institute, the Vienna Film Fund, BMWKMS, and Creative Europe MEDIA.

What happens when war becomes part of a person? MILITANTROPOS, co-produced by Mischief Films (AT), TABOR (UA), and Les Valseurs (FR), explores this question without focusing on individual protagonists. Rather than following specific lives, the directors observe the transformations through which people are drawn into war— and war into them. A picture emerges of the human psyche adapting to a new reality, where life unfolds amid horror and destruction, between flight and military service, but also within ordinary rhythms like summer vacations and melon harvests.
